July 15, 1996 : A Hercules C-130H, CH-06, c.n. 4473, of the Belgian Air Force, crashed at Eindhoven AB in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. The aircraft was carrying 37 members of the Dutch Army Fanfare Band, 2 pilots, 1 engineer and 1 loadmaster (41 total). The aircraft had departed from Villafranca in Italy. It is believed that the co-pilot initiated a go-around after noticing a flock of birds on the runway. Some were ingested resulting in loss of power on three engines. The aircraft hit the runway and caught fire. Thirty two people died in the crash and resulting fire. Nine heavily burned survivors were rescued, 2 of whom later died in the hospital.
